Ah, the foot; the meatbrick with 5 sprouting flesh morsels can hold so much mystery, wonder, and microbes. Let us rock your socks off with trivia and tales about our glorious feet: what does the "pink" in "pinky toe" mean? Why do we hang up stockings for Christmas? And where did the measurement of feet and miles come from? Karen blows minds with the phenomenon of "Frito Feet," and we dip our toes in Chris' idiom quiz.

ALSO: Check your body for some mildly odd genetic traits. Just sayin'.

Great job guys. I listen every week while I operate a successful North East distillery.
It's a quiet but often isolated job and your facts and humor make the day much more fun. But on a side note, Karen, as a marathon runner myself, you do not need to get blisters! Still, why not do a show about running?

Good job as usual guys! I was surprised that during the bit about NFL kickers that there was no mention of Tom Dempsey ( who was born without toes and thus wore a special shoe that was flat across the entire front of the shoe. (

There was some minor controversy as to whether this gave him a special advantage over other, normal footed kickers.

Dempsey is most widely known for his NFL record 63-yard field goal, kicked in the final two seconds to give the New Orleans Saints a 19–17 win over the Detroit Lions on November 8, 1970 at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans.

I think it's great that the week Karen mentions Matt Prater on her fantasy team, he sets the record for longest field goal in NFL history.

Karen your under-appreciated, kicker Matt Prater just broke the record for longest kick!

Love the show- listen to it all the time at work! I woke up late for a final last year and thought I just stubbed my pinkie toe- wrong! After 3 days of wearing rainboots (because my foot was so swollen- unfortunately / fortunately? There was no precipitation) - it was confirmed- proximal bone in my pinkie toe was broken. Turns out it's an incredibly important bone. Who knew?

Just in case someone didn't pick up on the connection, A barleycorn is the basic unit on the Brannock foot measure scale. So each mark on the scale is one barleycorn or 1/3 of an inch. (love the bit on a QI episode, when Phil Jupitus goes into a sort of rant/sketch on barleycorns...GOOD VENDOR OF SHOES, HOW MANY BARLRYCORNS AM I ON THIS FINE DAY) :)
