73: Lie, Cheat, and Steal

DIRECT DOWNLOAD  /  ITUNES  /  RSS

Tsk tsk tsk. For shame! Tales and trivia about notable cheaters: the marathon runner whose time seemed too good, the journalist whose reports seemed too colorful, and the gutsy guy whose casino caper seemed too easy. And of course, the awesome anti-cheating mechanisms, like plagiarism software and RFID tags, to battle against sneaky behavior! And how a couple of Canadian thieves got themselves in a STICKY situation.

ALSO: Squarespace Internet Quiz, Pop Quiz with vacationing listeners!

RUNTIME: 51 minutes 34 seconds

I am a father of five living in western Massachusetts with my wife who home schools the three older boys. Daddy (that's me) gets to do the fun stuff like science experiments and listen to you show with them once a week. I started doing it last school year and they loved it so we did it all summer. It's one of the highlights of the school week. Just wanted to thank you guys for being so informative and entertaining, you are all a real pleasure.

Did you know there's a movie about the story of Stephen Glass (mentioned in this episode), it's called "Broken Glass". I recommend it! It stars Hayden Christensen and Chloe Sevigny.

I'm sorry, this is an edit for a previous message; it's actually Shattered Glass, not Broken Glass.

I only know what a Google is because it was one of the questions from the Major Charles Ingram [cough] episode of Who Wants to Be a Millionnaire - the only guy convicted of cheating on the show and having to hand his prizefund back. Googol was his £1,000,000 question.
