Love the podcast! I was working as programmer when Y2K was a thing. The hysteria went even further than you can imagine. I worked with financial modeling software that was written in-house (we had all the source). Even though we a.) didn't use any date arithmetic as financial periods were defined as a 6 char field YYYYMM and b.) as you can see, we used a 4 chars for the year already and c.) these applications were for planning purposes and in no way affected actual company operations – pointing all this out made no difference. Absolutely every function had to be tested to prove they would not be impacted by the year changing to 2000!

Oh, and "Tie a Yellow Ribbon" was about a guy getting out of prison
"I'm really still in prison, and my love she holds the key
A simple yellow ribbon's what I need to set me free"
I do love how its being adopted by military families, I hope many families get to tie lots of yellow ribbons to welcome their loved ones home !
