157: Beautiful in Every Way

DIRECT DOWNLOAD  /  ITUNES  /  RSS

Let's spend a day prettying ourselves up! Ah, how about a nice relaxing snail facial to give your visage a nice fresh look? Or maybe you want to indulge in a bird poo treatment? Let's play a spa-themed game of "Place, Person, or Thing?" and discover the quasi-standard unit of beauty. (Yes! There *is* a unit that describes beauty!) We debunk home beauty remedies, and look! There she goes that girl is so peculiar; with a dreamy far-off look, and her nose stuck in a book. THAT BELLE! Chris finds out if Beauty and the Beast is indeed a tale as old as time.

ALSO: Listener Mailbag, How the deathray building can't be stopped

RUNTIME: 58 minutes 41 seconds

The hemorrhoid conversation is KILLING ME. Haha! I'm 26 and I will tell you that younger people can also get hemorrhoids and if they run in your family maybe you and your 21 year old brother get them all the time... wait what? lol

Sadly only corneas can be transplanted at present, not whole eyeballs. Maybe someday! On the plus side, they are interchangeable.

Thanks for the question about Red Hat ladies. Did you know they were inspired by a famous and wonderful poem? Props to the poet Jenny Joseph for "When I am an old woman I shall wear purple with a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me..." From "Warning" originally published in 1961. The poem embraces the delights of being old enough to do whatever you want whether it makes sense to anyone else or not.
